LG Watch Urbane is an all-metal luxury fashion smartwatch

LG has unveiled its first all-metal smartwatch, the ‘luxury’ LG Watch Urbane timepiece. This fashion-focused Android Wear offering will sport a circular design, much like the G Watch R, with narrower screen bezels, a thinner profile and a stainless steel body.

Aiming to appeal to “sophisticated and cosmopolitan,” men and women according, to the press release, the LG Watch Urbane will be available in polished silver or gold finishes and a stitched leather wrist band. With a traditional design that reflects a classic look, the strap can be replaced with any 22m wide band to suit the occasion or the wearer’s individual preferences.

“The LG Watch Urbane’s classic design and smart features make it the perfect smartwatch to complement our G Watch and G Watch R, which were designed as more casual and active devices,” claimed Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics. “LG Watch Urbane is an important part of our strategy to develop wearable devices that are worn and viewed as everyday accessories, not electronic gadgets.”

The smartwatch will sport a 1.3-inch circular Plastic OLED (P-OLED) 320×320 245ppi display, and is powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 SoC. Inside the 10.9mm thick metal housing, there’s 4GB of storage, 512MB RAM, and a 410mAh battery. Although LG has yet to announce how much battery life users will get out of the device with each charge, an Always-On ambient setting is said to be included to show the time continuously in a dimmed mode to save juice. Halth concious smart device wearers will be glad to hear that the wearable includes a photoplethysmography sensor that can measure one’s heart rate and average pulse during exercise. Furthermore, and great for sporty types, the LG Watch Urbane is IP67 water and dust resistant.

The high-end device will be showcased during MWC 2015 in Barcelona next month. It will be compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above. With the imminent release of the Apple Watch, the LG’s upcoming wearable is looking to be an impressive and fashionable alternative. Unfortunately, we still have to wait for details on pricing and availability.
