Microsoft confirmed as exhibitor at MWC Barcelona 2015
Microsoft’s appearance as an exhibitor at the upcoming Mobile World Congress exhibition has been confirmed. The Redmond-based devices and services goliath has opened up a registration page for said event which kicks off in Barcelona, as usual, on 2nd March and runs for four fun-packed days.
At the beginning of 20140 at MWC Microsoft weren’t present as exhibitors but Nokia was there with new smartphones and devices sporting Microsoft’s mobile OS. It is tipped that Microsoft will be using the same platform for launching some new Microsoft Lumia devices this year.
Microsoft recently announced its first non-Nokia branded smartphone, the Lumia 535, and it appears to be a fantastic budget offering which is in many ways a cut about the previous Lumia 6XX models. After that impressive start we hope that Microsoft will continue to leapfrog current offerings with better and expanded hardware and software features available to its smartphone buyers.
Windows 10 is due to launch in 2015 but we think it will be too early for Windows 10 on mobile which hasn’t even seen any beta or preview releases yet – even though the x86 PCs and tablets have. However we might get a sneak peak at what is to come and what the future of Microsoft mobile devices will offer us.
We already know that ALL Windows Phone 8 Lumias will be upgradeable to Windows 10 so that’s reassuring and maybe any new device will be sold with a ‘Windows 10 ready’ sticker or similar. Will Microsoft take the Lumia models in a different direction to where Nokia was heading? It looks like the next MWC is going to be another good one with mobiles and wearables a plenty on show.
