Oppo announces N3 smartphone with motorised rotating lens
Oppo has held a special event to reveal two new smartphones. The headlining Oppo N3 is the company’s new flagship Android smartphone featuring an interesting 206 degree motorised rotating 16MP camera unit.
As mentioned in the headline, the Oppo N3’s main claim to fame is the main camera unit which offers 206° of rotation. This motorised software controlled ability “invites the world to adjust their focus, tilt the camera and open up a new chapter in visual lifestyle,” according to Oppo’s promotional blurb.
While on the subject of the camera, it uses a 16MP sensor, f/2.2 aperture and Schneider lens system. A dual-mode LED flash helps you with light fill and there is the usual array of shooting modes including HDR, panorama, macro and after focus. You can also shoot video footage at a maximum of 4K with 30fps.
Oppo is proud of the “robust industrial grade aluminium alloy 7075 micro-arc frame” into which it has shoehorned the smartphone hardware. Other key specs of the hardware include a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad-Core, 2GB of RAM, 32GB storage plus microSD slot, 3,000mAh battery (with fast charging) and both micro and nano SIM support. The screen is a 5.5.-inch full HD coated with Gorilla Glass 3. This smartphone uses Android 4.4 with the Oppo ColorOS 2.0 skin and measures 161.2 × 77 × 8.7 mm and weighs in at 192g. You have the full expected range of connectivity options too; 2G, 3G, 4G/LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
You should be able to get your hands on an Oppo N3 for around $649 off contract by the end of this year.
