Samsung Galaxy Note 4 price to drop by 34% in next 3 months
A new study from market research firm Idealo has forecasted a 34% price drop for Samsung’s new phablet flagship, the Galaxy Note 4. Thus the latest version of Samsung’s Note smartphone range is expected to lose over a third of its retail value in just three months.
The hefty price drop is predicted based on comprehensive market history data, where the expected price decline for the Note 4 was calculated using previous models of the Galaxy Note range. The results show that prices fall more rapidly with each new model released. The first Galaxy Note suffered only an 8% drop in price after 3 months, the Note 2 saw a price reduction of 13% over its first quarter. The Note 3 had an ever more notable slump, dropping to just 75% of its original price after 3 months of release. If the trend continues – and with smartphone competition not letting up, it should – Idealo concludes that the current model is likely to undergo an even larger/faster plunge.
A further trend was discovered with the Note 2 and 3 models, where they experienced a stronger price decline after 3 months. Based on the analysis, the Galaxy Note 4 could see its price fall to as little as 56% of its launch price a year after market availability.
