iPad Mini 3 and iPad Air 2 rumoured for October launch
With the iPhone 6 now official, we are now turning our attention to when Apple will bring out the iPad Mini 3 to join its busy Q4 product lineup. A new report is claiming that Apple is planning to release the iPad Mini 3 before the end of the year, maybe even as early as October, where Apple is expected to hold an event to introduce new products.
It was previously suggested that Apple would not be bringing out new iPad models until 2015. However, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is confident in predicting Apple’s plan, saying: “We previously thought Apple would not release a new version of the iPad Mini this year, but we now think Apple will launch an upgraded version with the same form factor.” Kuo is said to have spoken with “claimed insiders” to gain this information, but we always suggest that our readers take rumours with a pinch of salt. The iPad Mini 3 may receive a Touch ID scanner, with screen size remaining to be 7.9-inches.
Alongside the iPad Mini 3, Apple is expencted to be launching an upgraded iPad Air which will come with “significant specs upgrades” including a full-laminated touch panel for thinness, a new gold-coloured casing, an A8 CPU and Apple’s Touch ID fingerprint scanner.
“We think the upgraded iPad Air will be launched earlier in 2014 than the iPad Air was in 2013,” Kuo added, meaning that we could see the tablets introduced as early as next month. Both tablets will run on the latest iOS 8 and Kuo predicts that they will be launched on 14th October. It is thought that few radical changes will be made to the duo, given the positive reception of the iPad Air and the iPad Mini 2 (Retina) and their dominance of tablet sales.
