Latest teaser video from ASUS reveals more views of its ‘ZenWatch’
Following the teaser announcement made just over a week ago via Twitter, ASUS has released a new video showing off more of its upcoming smartwatch and putting a name to the device – the ZenWatch.
ASUS’s Android Wear device is due to be officially unveiled on 3rd September at IFA in Berlin. It will go head to head against other wearable device makers, like LG and Samsung who are also introducing new smartwatches next week. ASUS is hyping its device up by releasing a series of sneak peeks to the device in a drip-drip manner.
The new video, compared to previous announcements, gives us a little more of the smartwatch to look at. The wearable looks to feature a brushed aluminium body featuring a square watch face with rounded corners. It also confirms that the device should have a small bezel, possibly even smaller than smartwatches available on the market at the moment. The Zen branding gives it design cues from the ASUS range of high end notebook computers.
Unfortunately, details concerning specs and internal components are still unavailable at this point. AndroidHeadlines thinks that the device would be a pretty cheaply priced smartwatch, coming in at around $99-$49, setting it up to be the cheapest Android Wear device in the market we know of so far.
For those who are in the market for a smartwatch, you’ll sure have a lot more devices to choose from if you can tell yourself to patiently wait for a week. With three new watches scheduled to be announced on 3-4 September, Motorola’s also expected to finally put the Moto 360 on sale too.
