LG G Watch tech specifications, UK release date and pricing leak
Details of the upcoming LG G Watch Android Wear OS powered wearable have leaked to the internet. The details come from what is thought to be pages of the official LG G Watch smartwatch manual – via Twitter user @UpLeaks. A further leak reveals what might well be the UK launch and pricing of LG’s first smartwatch.
Google I/O is held towards the end of this month, 25-26th June, so it is at that time we expect to hear much more about the Android Wear OS, UI and associated devices coming to market. As well as LG’s device, the subject of this article, we expect to see the Moto 360 smartwatch which features a more ‘traditional’ round face form factor as well as other devices and news about Google software. Android Police also reveal that the G Watch will be handed out to conference attendees this year as the annual freebie.

The LG G-Watch being worn
Let’s get back to the LG G Watch, codenamed LG-W100, and examine what specs we see revealed here.
- Application processor: Qualcomm APQ8026
- Display: 1.65-inches 280 x 280 pixels
- Memory: 512MB RAM (listed as 4 gigabits ‘Gb’) and 4GB of storage
- Battery: 400mAh, 36hr standby, 2hr charging time
- Weight: 61g
- Connectivity: 5-pin microUSB 2.0 port, Bluetooth 4 LE
- OS: Android Wear
- Languages: English, Espanol, French, Korean, Chinese
So there it is specced out above. The main thing we need to know now is how well Android Wear works, its UI and its apps. The leaked details also mention that Android Wear can handle Voice memos, text memos SMS and emails (these last three via speech recognition). Something you might have found handy but lacking on the LG G Watch is any kind of imaging device. So you won’t be able to do your ‘spy thing’ and take photos of confidential documents with your watch folks. Finally the 36 hour battery life in standby sounds simply like a comfortable 24 hours of intermittent active use – with a charge needed every night, just like your smartphone.

LG G-Watch colour options
Moving on to some further info about the LG G Watch, Modaco reports that this wearable tech device will launch on 7th July in the UK priced at £169.99 including VAT. That’s just over US$280 doing a direct conversion so perhaps it will be marketed at $249.99 + tax where applicable.
